5th Annual All Northeast School BBQ on August 25th…

Castle’s owner, Loren Schirber had an interesting conversation recently with Kurt Nowacki of Rock Solid Companies, when Kurt approached him about co-sponsoring the 5th Annual All Northeast Community School BBQ.

It was great to hear how Northeast schools, businesses and organizations like PEN and the Edison Community & Sports Foundation are working together on the BBQ.   This Community BBQ will be held at Thomas Edison High School from 3pm to 8pm on August 25th, making it an easy dinner plan since its Open House night!  Everyone is invited!

Castle’s philosophy is that without good schools in our communities, families leave the area preventing continued community growth in local businesses and other aspects of the community. Our schools are a very important part of our community and Castle Building & Remodeling is proud to be a sponsor of the event!

Mark your calendars…we’ll see you on August 25th!

Castle Enters The 5th Annual BLEND Award…

Castle is excited to announce our entry in the 5th Annual B.L.E.N.D. Award! The B.L.E.N.D. Award organization encourages and rewards builders, architects, and homeowners to blend newly remodeled or constructed homes and businesses into their existing Minneapolis neighborhoods. Industry professionals and neighborhood residents select projects for recognition, following guidelines with a focus on projects that not only ensure the redevelopment builds upon the qualities that have made Minneapolis a place where people have chosen to live for so many years; respects privacy, light access, private views of neighboring properties; but also encourages redevelopment and construction of homes that are diverse and innovative in design all while remaining compatible with the neighborhood.

Castle’s entry boasts an extraordinary 2nd Story addition and remodel of a 1920’s center hall Colonial in South Minneapolis, which expanded this living space without sacrificing the period feel and remaining authentic to the integrity of the neighborhood’s streetscape.  The architectural details of the home were kept intact and replicated with arched openings, built-in corner cabinets, breakfast nook, crown moldings, bead board ceilings with cove detailing, wainscoting, and a blend of stained and painted woodwork helped create the charm and beauty of yesterday with the functionality of well-designed twenty-first century space needed for today.

Buy Local and Reap the Rewards in Your Community

A recent WSJ.com article talks about a new online tool that measures the economic impact on communities of spending at local independent businesses versus the larger national chains. In one city, the tool showed that for every $10 spent at local independent businesses, $4 goes back into that community! Compare buying at Castle Building & Remodeling versus The Home Depot, and how that local buying benefits and gives back to the community in so many ways. The article goes on to talk about how independently owned businesses are contributing more tax dollars to neighborhood development than the large national chains. Click Here and read the full article!
