The owners of this charming 1926 Tudor in South Minneapolis wanted a few simple updates for their kitchen, which had been remodeled fairly recently by a previous owner. The layout worked well and the cabinetry was in good shape, but the space felt dark and dated. The dark green laminate countertops and integrated backsplash were removed and replaced with new laminate countertops in a lighter color. They chose a simple 4” backsplash of the same material as the countertops. The existing vinyl floor was removed down to the sub-floor and cheery green Marmoleum was installed. The trim throughout was replaced with new and stained to match. A sleek stainless steel sink and pull-down faucet add a nice touch. The walls were painted a complementary green to pull out the lighter colors in the Marmoleum. All said and done, the homeowners enjoy their cheerful, bright “new” kitchen.
